"You've reached the fabulous High Warlock of Brooklyn, Magnus Bane. If it's important, leave your name and number and I'll get back to you. If it's not, then stop wasting my time."
Yeah. [ four times, but he doesn't say that. it sounds crazy — excessive even, but given the circumstances, alec doesn't care. ]
I just saw her the other day. She couldn't have gone far, right?
[ unless she met with sebastian thanks to that plan she cooked up with that guy she was talking about, anders. the only other noise on his end is the gritty sound of boots on dirt. but he's skirting the line of a meltdown now, worry eating its way into his tone. ]
She said she'd call before she did anything with Sebastian. She didn't call, so there's no way she was with him.
[hello, Magnus. It's your best friend Isabelle calling. Doesn't she look pretty?
[Yes, she's always pretty. It's sort of a thing.
[But that's not why she's called you today.
[No, today she has called you because she hasn't seen you in ages, and that's seriously a Big Fucking Problem.
[So you'll excuse the fact that she's not actually speaking. She just smiles at the camera a little - some sort of sadly amused, 'wow you're sort of dumb' expression - and then sighs heavily.]
[ nervous. that is really the only way that you could describe Alec right now. everything about him screamed nervous energy and something that might almost be called fear.
almost.
it's hard to tell when he refuses to really look at the screen, fidgeting and letting his fingers work at the fraying hem of his dark gray jumper (Anatole was nice enough to gift him with well worn sweaters and not just hunting gear), a few more threads coming loose in his grip before he finally looks up. not right at the screen, but a little bit off, blue eyes constantly moving around.]
Magnus, I... [ he pauses, toys with the fraying hem a little more before he sighs and mumbles out, quickly.] I need to talk to you. And I'm sorry it took me this long and--
[ he stops himself. he really doesn't have an excuse beyond that of his fear, and the guilt that has been curling around his lungs and pressing him down since before he even got to this place, making it almost impossible to breathe without a painful reminder of what he had messed up.]
Can you-- can you meet me at the ruins? Please?
[ he look sup on the please, lets the desperation and fear speak for itself.]
[ To be perfectly honest, the first thing he wants to do is yell. He's not very happy, having spent these three weeks being outright ignored by his own boyfriend, for no real reason, as far as he could see. They'd been snippy with each other on that first night, but that didn't warrant the cold shoulder.
Something stops him, though. It's the look that's etched into Alec's face, the waver and tone of his voice. It gives him pause long enough to reevaluate the situation and decide that perhaps this time, anger isn't the path to take.
It would have been so easy to just be mad. But now he can't bring himself to voice it.
He still doesn't look pleased, though. His expression is quietly subdued as he watches, and his tone is the same when he responds. ]
I'll be there.
[ What else is he supposed to say to that? There is nothing to say, not anything that isn't snarky or cold, which is what he's trying to avoid right now. This is progress, though. Maybe not good progress, but progress all the same. ]

... Whatever. ]
So I've seen.
[ Not exactly the social call he was hoping for, but oh well. It'll have to do. ]

And Simon is back. [ a pause and then he sighs. ] We're meeting up at Izzy's place to talk about it.
[ aka to talk about what happened with max and the binding thing with jace. he gets quieter then, the anger draining from his voice. ]
Will you come? Please.

I take it you've tried calling her?
[ But he already knows the answer to this. There are sounds in the background as he stands up from his chair and searches for his jacket. ]

May I help you with something? Or are you so hard pressed for entertainment around here that you've resorted to sighing at me?

[she sounds so melodramatic. And now?
[Now, she looks like she's about to cry. Right down to that little tremble in her lip.
[Don't make the pretty girl cry, Magnus.]
