CHARACTER INFORMATION

NAME: Magnus Bane
CANON: The Mortal Instruments
AGE: Appears to be nineteen, is actually roughly 800 years old, give or take a few.
CANON POINT: Post City of Heavenly Fire

BACKGROUND: Wikia page!
INCENTIVE/FIT: Being a warlock and having the ability to quite literally have almost anything with just a simple snap of his fingers means that in a lot of ways, Magnus isn’t really lacking. Even things his magic can’t help him to, such as friendship and love, he has plenty of right now. So, theoretically, besides the thrilling promise of adventure, there really isn’t anything anybody could offer him right now to entice him into leaving his home and vacationing in Eudio, right?

Except being a warlock also means he’s immortal, and it means he’s lived hundreds upon hundreds of years, and it means he’s staring down hundreds and hundreds more. It means outliving his very mortal boyfriend, who is quite literally the love of his life, and dealing with that heartbreak for the rest of his immortal life. He’s always thought that maybe, by the time it happens, he’ll be prepared. But he’s since learned that he’ll never be ready for that, and he’ll never be ready to live alone after that. Not to mention, he’s lived for such a long time, and he’s done just about everything there is to do. He’s tired. The one thing he hasn’t done is grow old.

Magnus has done so much research regarding his immortality, specifically ways he can remove it safely without removing his powers along with it or causing some serious damage. Even obtaining the Book of White, a very powerful spellbook, hasn’t done any good. As far as he’s been able to find, there isn’t any way for him to become mortal. If he were presented with a way to safely remove his immortality without the weight of all the years of his life crashing down on him at once and without taking away his magical abilities, he’d give it a shot.

Magnus is a very physically affectionate person. Even having a boyfriend that he’s oh-so in love with doesn’t change that too much. Love and sex are things he’s very well-versed in, and he’s very comfortable with both of them.

ANYTHING ELSE? Magnus is a warlock, which in his canon means he’s the offspring of a human and a demon, he’s immortal, and he has nearly unlimited magical powers. He’s also the High Warlock of Brooklyn, which makes him a very powerful warlock. Generally, he just uses these to do things like obtain cups of coffee and tea without moving from his seat, or rearrange his furniture with a snap of his fingers. But he’s also been known to summon demons and angels for various jobs, do memory-wiping spells, healing peoples’ fatal injuries, and making trucks float on water. The more magic he does, the more exhausted he gets. Magic takes energy. The bigger things like summonings, saving lives, and floating trucks take a lot more energy than obtaining drinks and redecorating. While his magic is limitless, his energy is not. While in Eudio, game breaking things like summoning angels and demons and the like can be made impossible. He won’t have much reason for doing that type of work anyway.

Weapons aren’t really his thing, but from home, Magnus would like to bring his cat, Chairman Meow. There are some spellbooks he’d like to bring, too, as well as a trunk of random harmless trinkets he’s collected over the years.
